Shutterstock Newsletter

So, I signed up for shutterstock, but I haven't sent anything in, yet. They sent out a newsletter saying that the pictures that are downloaded the most are the ones that convey an idea. For example, a picture that conveys spontaneity might get more downloads than a photo of a tree. I also heard that there are tons of pet, flower and computer equipment shots already, so steer clear of those, as well. Another thing that shutterstock said, was to try to take pictures of people in motion, rather than people who are rigidly posing. More people are looking for "natural feeling" images. This means that your subjects should appear to be caught doing things (such as acting spontaneously), rather than posing in a staged photo.
